These “intelligent” systems monitor and control the capabilities of each alarm initiating and signaling device through microprocessors and system software. In an addressable panel, each individual device has a unique 'address' or number so that in the event of fire, the panel will show specifically which device has been triggered. The detectors (sensors) pass back information to the panel, rather than just making a fire/no fire decision themselves. The control panel then analyses this information to decide if it is a recognized fire condition.
